ASK - Student Union

What is it?

All students at Arcada that decides to join, makes the student union of Arcada.

The union was founded in 1997 and has been operating since that as a registered association. In August 2005 a law passed by the Parliament officially gave legal status to the student unions of polytechnics.

The union is operating at Arcada and is working to get the student's voices heard. At Arcada we have many different representatives. At a national level we are influencing by being members of SAMOK - Suomen Ammattikorkeakouluopiskelijayhdistysten Liitto - SAMOK ry. The head organisation for student unions at Polytechnics in Finland.

The Office

Hi and welcome to our office. You can find us in the Cor-house, on the second floor. You can visit us if you need a studentcard or if you have studyrelated questions.

Become a member!

We have almost 1000 members - join you too!

To become a member, do as follows: - Get the membershipform outside ASK office in the Cor-house (2nd floor).

- Follow the instructions!

As a member of the union you get:

• The Swedish student newspaper "Studentbladet" for free.
• 50% discount on a number of the largest nation-wide newspapers, such as Hbl or Helsingin Sanomat.
• Cheaper photo-copy cards at school.
• Discounts in the Cor-house

- All the nation-wide student discounts that you get with your student card (-50% on long-distant buses and trains, cheaper food on a number of places, cheaper insurances, newspapers etc. etc.) - Remember to always ask for student discounts in the restaurants and stores!

But most of all: ASK watches over YOUR interests, and makes YOUR voice heard!

 

Membership - Old member

If you already have a student card, and want to renew your member ship, do as follows.

Pay the membership fee to ASK's account (Aktia) 405510-2235200

Autumn and spring 2008-2009: 30 euro

Autumn 2008: 20 euro, spring 2009: 20 euro

IMPORTANT! write in the subject field, "student union fee 08-09 + the year you started your studies + degree  programme".  If you also decide to join a student association, please mention the name of the association.

 

Example: "Student union fee 08-09, + International Business -05, (HanSe)

Bring the receipt of payment and pick up the new sticker at ASK's office in the Cor-house.

You can also join a student association, 5 euros per year.

Student associations: Commedia, HanSe, HoSK, TLK.

The amount is to be paid to the same account as you pay the student union fee.
